"Belief in Belief" in God - Dan Dennett

Dan Dennett's talk at the AAI 2007 Conference in Washington, D.C, where he talks about how many types of practical fears push people to publicly support of religion, and distinguishes this from genuine intellectual belief and/or acceptance of the theological teachings of religion. he says that intelligent and reflective people lie about having a belief in religion for pragmatic reasons, trapped in a guilty pretence, not wanting to betray those they love, not wanting to ruffle feathers or much worse... etc:
