Welcome to the official companion website for The Christian Delusion: Why Faith Fails, edited by John W. Loftus, and published by Prometheus Books. In fifteen chapters by nine authors this new anthology challenges the very rationality of the Christian faith. Its content is so daring and controversial that a desperate and hostile response from defenders of the faith is inevitable. What you will find here will be responses to the book's critics, FAQs from the authors about the various chapters as questions are raised, published reviews of the book, and other items of importance to the book's content. Hector Avalos, Ph.D., is Professor of Religious Studies, Iowa State University, and author of Fighting Words: The Origin of Religious Violence (2005), The End of Biblical Studies (2007), and two chapters in The Christian Delusion: Why Faith Fails, edited by John W. Loftus.

Richard Carrier, Ph.D.

Ken Pulliam,
earned his Ph.D.
from Bob Jones University in 1986. Then for nine years Ken taught New Testament Greek, Systematic Theology, and Apologetics at the International Baptist College in Tempe, Arizona, before becoming an agnostic atheist. At the time of his untimely death in October of 2010 he was writing a book that would surely have been a tour de force on the various atonement theories. Victor Stenger, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Physics and Astronomy, University of Hawaii (retired in 2000); Research Fellow, Center for Inquiry Transnational; Fellow of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry; and author of several books, including God: The Failed Hypothesis (2007), and The New Atheism: Taking a Stand for Science and Reason (2009).

Valerie Tarico, Ph.D., is the author of the book Trusting Doubt: A Former Evangelical Looks at Old Beliefs in a New Light (2010), and a chapter in The Christian Delusion: Why Faith Fails, edited by John W. Loftus.
